It is universally recognized that travel and tourism have a large impact on the environment. Both the public and private sectors face new opportunities in this regard. How can they work hand in hand to efficiently tackle climate change issues together ? How does one adopt a suitable sustainability approach ?
Striving towards a greener growth
Concern about climate change is not new. A pioneering book, Costing the Earth, by Frances Cairncross, was already published in 1991. The book asked all the right questions and offered solutions involving government and companies.
More recently, in 2012, Green Growth and Travelism, a compilation of letters from leaders edited by G. Lipman, T. Delacy, S. Vorster, R. Hawkins and Min Jiang, brought new concepts into focus.
The Green Growth and Travelism Institute (GGTI) is a not for profit international university Research & Development network based in Belgium. It operates under the name of The SUNx Program.
Prudence SPRL fully espouses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that stand as one of the great achievements of our time – the culmination of more than half a century of increasing collective commitment to a fairer, more equitable world, based on economic, social and environmental sustainability.
We are also following the Impact Travel Alliance, a non-profit global community aiming at sustainable tourism.
We will be happy to discuss cooperation with like-minded operators.
